I work with pattern, shadow, residue, and repetition. Drawing patterns from my immediate surroundings, personal history, and traditional crafts I explore themes of family, home, loss, love, compulsion and time. The works strive to balance both a delicacy and hardness within its mediums to examine the idea that the things in our lives which are the most monumental are also the most delicate. The paper is cut, stained and molded to become like steel, lace, or even skin. These patterns intertwine and layer to obscure and highlight each other; and in doing so they create new patterns and forms of their own.
